Backpacking.
My favorite past time ever. It was great to spend a weekend in the HighUintas, hiking fishing, sleeping. All well above 10,000 feet and with some of my most favortite people.  Stella came through and hiked really well and packed all of her own gear.
It was great to have my Dad along. He has been to Cuberant Basin so many times, as well as with his own father, whom I miss tremendously. My Dad brought a great perspective to myself: that it is a rarely beatuiful place that he, or any of us may never see again.  Definitely good to take the time to appreciate the places we love
We were also graced with the presence of a herd of beautiful mountain goats. They were not shy for over two hours, before they wandered back into the mountain land.

So great to get so far away from all of the other people. So simple to only have to worry about the immediate happiness, wellbeing, and full stomache's of those nearest. Quiet and peace that is missed daily at this point.
It really can be simple and beautiful. Funny how you have to strap so much weight on your back, and head into the wild unknown.

This was taken on our hike through the petrified forest. The kids are sitting on part of a tree that dinosaurs probably ate! What a great hike. Who know petrified wood was so beautiful?

A Change of Scenery

I found out this week I will no longer be manager of the 3-6 year old ski programs. This came as a major blow. It is hard to lose a job that I love. Even worse I know I am doing a great job and the program is so successful! Because of a senority issue as well as the tumbling economy, I am now going to be a ski instructor (yeah, I know boo-hoo). After all the tears I am now taking a proactive approach by signing up for numerous clinics that will help make me a better teacher and skier, on top of this I am getting to ski a lot more which I am loving... I will be back doing what I love again someday, and in the meantime will be bettering myself, and doing whatever I can to make me a better manager for the future. Change is hard. I am trying to look at this as a new opportunity to further my career in the ski industry. Thankfully at this point I am on the twenty year career plan and could use the turbulance in my life!@#$% Pictures, Images and Photos
